Bedford Celebrates the Season

Community holiday celebrations begin in earnest this weekend.

The fun begins early on Sunday morning when families gather for Breakfast with Santa, or at Temple Emunah’s Simhat Tot celebration or the community Hannukah celebration at Temple Shalom Emeth.

Beautifully decorated local homes will be open on Sunday afternoon during Suzanne &Co’s Chamber of Commerce Holiday House Tour. The tour including a final stop for afternoon tea and a holiday bazaar at First Church on Great Road, with music provided by members of the Lexington Symphony.

Homemade holiday cookies will be available by the dozen at Emerson Hospital’s Cookies by the Pound Sale in Concord on Monday morning; the sale also includes hand-made quilts. Proceeds will benefit the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary, which counts 35 Bedfordites among its members.

At Monday evening’s Tree Lighting on Bedford Common, Children’s Librarian Sharon McDonald will tell holiday tales inside First Parish, Citizen of the Year Roberta “Bobbie” Ennis will illuminate the lights on Bedford Common, and a familiar, rotund fellow in a red suit will arrive on a shiny red fire truck.

Snow Village is still on display at Chip-In Farm; your donations will benefit the Bedford Food Pantry and Community Table.

And in the spirit of giving back, The Bedford Family Connection boot drive ends on Monday, December 10, if you have new or gently-used adult or children’s winter boots to share.
